Please read St. Luke 19:1-9 KJV

Firstly, many thanks for taking some time out of your day to read the lessons learnt from the meeting between Zacchaeus and The Lord Jesus. First, take some time to read the Holy Word and then consider the lessons learnt in this post from The Holy Bible (KJV) to improve your life. My friend, let me say this to you, it is never too late to seek the Love of Jesus Christ.

I urge you to start today!

So, the first lesson we learn:

1. Without Jesus being present in our lives we will always be empty inside

You see, the Holy Word describes Zacchaeus as being a small man in stature, a chief amongst men, a rich man, a tax collector and a man which lived a decent natural life, i.e. paid his taxes, gave to the poor and never defrauded any people. From what I understand from this lesson is that Zacchaeus had a good character, however, he missed one element in his life and that was the Lord Jesus. Many live empty lives, they may have natural wealth, they may live within the prescripts of the law, but still, have this large void within their lives. My friend, this void needs to be filled so that you can become whole. The person that can fill that void is The Lord Jesus Christ. See the reward Zacchaeus get for pursuing and putting in maximum effort to see The Lord.

2. Effort and perseverance lead to reward

As discussed earlier, this small statue of a man knew that The Lord Jesus was coming and he knew he would not be able to see The Lord due to the crowds surrounding Him. It is at this point that Zacchaeus takes the initiative and comes up with a plan to climb a Sycamore tree so that he can have a bird’s eye view of The Lord Jesus. There is so much one can learn and take out of this point, to gain blessings you have to put in effort i.e. climb the tree and get out of your comfort zone. You have to recognize your shortcomings as Zacchaeus did, he understood that his height will not allow him to see Jesus. But he never gave up! Far too many a times we come up against an obstacle in life and we give up. Zacchaeus provides a wonderful picture of the effort it takes to be seen. The Lord Jesus didn’t just notice his efforts, but also chose him. Besides, the challenge placed before him, the crowds and throng never deterred him. So many times we have trials and tribulations placed before us then we just throw in the towel. Overcome this weakness and you will receive endless blessings as given to Zacchaeus. When the Saviour recognized the effort from the son, he told him to come down as He was coming to his house. I find this so powerful, Jesus wants to enter our lives and home but we refuse, we rather close the door. Open the door and let the blessed sunshine in!

3. Obedience and being intentional

After having being told by Jesus that He is coming to his home, Zacchaeus runs ahead prepares for Jesus to come into the house. I so admire this man, his strong will and desire to always please the Lord stands like a pole above water. His obedience and preparation to be ready are remarkable. It is clear that Zacchaeus always wanted to please The Lord, he lived an intentional life always being prepared and ready to lead his life with the Lord’s help. Moreover, he always saw an opportunity. He was a man that would see the glass half full, rather than half empty. What we can take from this lesson is this, when Jesus give you an instruction, be obedient and make the change so that you are prepared for Him to enter your life.

4. Have a defence by living a righteous life

When the Lord Jesus entered the son’s house, he put up a natural defence. I so admired his defence before The Lord Jesus, he was not arrogant, high-minded, but rather humble and sincere. He put up a natural defence before The Lord Jesus and received a blessing that Salvation has come into his home. This Salvation is Jesus himself! He was so confident in his defence that he was prepared to pay anyone he defrauded four-folds more. You see it is our responsibility to live a righteous life. It is our responsibility to give to the poor and serve others. The Lord Jesus loves a true worshipper.

In closing, I trust you find the lessons learnt from The Holy Word insightful and helpful. Again, many thanks for taking the time out to read this post. I want to end off with these words, “reward comes after effort” and not the opposite way. So, take today an evaluate your life to see whether you pleasing The Lord Jesus.

Be good and kind-hearted to all people.

Your friend,

Clint Stewart
